  5. How do I tell if my Solar Hot Water Heater is broken?

    August 31, 2010, 4:32 am
I have had a Solar Hot Water heater on the roof of my 3 level home for about 10 years. I have often wondered how do you tell if the heater is broken? If the re-circulating pump dies, am i right in saying the electric heating back-up would kick in? Would then my electricity bill skyrocket without me knowing until I got my next quarterly bill? I'd like to be able to avoid this.
  6. Solar Array Design: Parallel Wiring Opens New Doors

    August 30, 2010, 5:57 am
For decades, designers of solar power systems have faced a knotty set of interlocking challenges. Solar panels produce DC at relatively low voltages, but inverters require a relatively high input voltage to be able to convert the power to AC and send it to the grid. Solar panels can be wired in series to sum their voltages, but their combined output fluctuates with even small mismatches among ...
